Below are specifications and descriptions for SCOT’s seven most popular finishes.
Saddle Finish (SF)
Saddle Finish is a full aniline finish that highlights the natural attributes of ostrich leather. It has a smooth, dry and firm feel and has a medium natural gloss when polished. This finish is suitable for most weight categories.
Saddle Finish Soft (SFS)
Saddle Finish Soft is a softer version full aniline finish. It also highlights the natural attributes of ostrich leather. It has a smooth, dry and soft feel and has a medium natural gloss when polished. This finish is suited to light and medium weight skins.
Semi Aniline (SA)
Semi Aniline leather has a smooth, dry and firm feel. A light coat of dye is sprayed on top of the skin without losing the natural attributes of the leather. SA finish is used to ensure colour uniformity on the skins. When polished it has a medium, natural gloss.
Semi Aniline Soft (SAS)
This is the softer version of the standard semi aniline finish and is suitable for heavier skins.
Clothing Nappa (CN)
SCOT clothing nappa skins are some of the best in the world. It has a smooth, silky and very soft feel. Some pigment is used in the finishing of such skins to ensure colour uniformity across a skin. This finish is suited to light and very light skins. Black, Kango Tabak, Cognac and Nicotine are some of the most popular colours.
Plunged (PL)
Plunged skins are just drum-dyed with the finishing process happening in the drum. It is also referred to as the naked finish as it is not sprayed or polished. These skins are soft, dry and silky and suited to light weighted skins.
Classic Finish (CF)
The classic finish has a smooth, dry and soft feel. Pigment is used to finish each skin and ensures absolute colour uniformity across the skin. This finish is suited to any colour. Skins that are finished in this manner are not polished and have a dull appearance.
